NEW NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP SUPPORTS GENDER DIVERSITY IN AUSTRALIA’S CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY

Each year, NAWIC awards a research scholarship for women working in the construction industry.
An enhanced partnership between the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) and design furniture, lighting and accessory company Corporate Culture will support an expanded International Women’s Day Scholarship from 2014.
Each year, NAWIC awards a research scholarship for women working in the construction industry. The International Women’s Day Scholarship provides funding for a research paper to be used as a positive instrument for change in the sector.
The scholarship is valued at up to $10,000 and is funded from the proceeds of an auction item donated by Corporate Culture.
In previous years, the scholarship was open only to women in the NSW construction industry. From 2014, Corporate Culture will support a national scholarship for a three year period.
“We are delighted to be expanding our partnership with Corporate Culture, which will help us to build a more diverse and dynamic construction workforce,” says NAWIC’s Chief Executive Officer, Sheryle Moon.
“NAWIC is committed to removing the barriers to women’s participation in the construction industry. Just 12 per cent of those employed in Australia’s construction industry are women, and the International Women’s Day Scholarship enables us to identify opportunities to improve gender diversity in our sector.”
