LED SOLAR LIGHTS UP MARINA
29 Jun 2016
Advanced Lighting Technologies has teamed up with their solar partners to light up the new Townsville Recreational Boating Park with quality LED solar lighting that will stand up to marine conditions.

Townsville Recreational Boating Park is a hub for keen anglers and water lovers alike. In 2015 Townsville City Council began a multi-stage $25 million upgrade of the precinct, to provide North Queensland’s recreational boating community with a world-class sheltered all-tide facility. Wanting to create a safe environment for boating enthusiasts, Council chose to install LED lighting from Advanced Lighting Technologies that would stand up to the tough coastal conditions common to the area.

Advanced Lighting Technologies teamed up with their solar partner, Orca Solar Lighting, to provide low wattage LEDs that are the perfect match for solar lighting. Chosen for its proven performance, the Cree LEDway from Advanced Lighting Technologies was installed in the park. Achieving excellent results in harsh environments, the flexible Cree LEDway works on both high wattage 240v and low wattage solar power sources as required.
Orca Solar Lighting® supplied and facilitated the installation of the 35 Vertex® solar lights (excluding poles) around all the paths, parkland and picnic areas and jetties, as well as the solar shelter lighting. The end result is a fantastic precinct that looks great and provides a safe environment for everyone, from families to keen anglers, and anyone else who enjoys getting out on the water. The Vertex® solar lights provide AS 11583.1 P3 lighting all night, utilising the Cree LEDway light fixtures.
The Townsville Recreation Boating Park upgrade is a joint venture between Townsville City Council, The Department of Transport and Main Roads, and Port of Townsville Limited. The completed project will comprise 16 boating ramps, with floating walkways at each ramp; 360 parking spaces for vehicles with trailers; and huge parklands with barbeque and picnic facilities, much of it lit with solar lighting.
