Russel Koskela and Sasha Titchosky have always created beautiful, functional and durable furniture, and now it is delicious too.
While the company Koskela is often associated with large scale commercial projects, their Rosebery warehouse is a design brik-a-brak store with everything from outdoor benches, timber brush-ware to four poster beds and handmade children’s toys.
A design that captured my eye were the terrariums and mossariums, beautiful glass fishbowls filled with a miniature environment, pebbles, soil, moss and a range of plant species, essentially biodiversity in a bowl. This isn’t surprising considering environmental sustainability it what Koskela is all about; “As designers, we are obligated to create products that minimise the impact on our world, and we are embracing the opportunity to do just that”.
And if there is one thing better than strolling through their beautiful gallery/warehouse, it’s doing it with a coffee in hand. To add the icing on the cake, Koskela has designed a cantina-style cafe inside their showroom, lead by former Executive chef at Rockpool, Mike McEnearney. The cafe is like an extension of the products, everything is housemade, locally produced, inspiring and delicious.
