Association Profile

The Master Landscapers of South Australia (MLSA) is the professional industry body representing landscaping in Adelaide and regional South Australia. We build capacity and capability across the industry, ensuring members deliver the highest quality standards and levels of professionalism for their customers.

Membership with the Master Landscapers of SA is open to any person or entity engaged in the landscape industry from landscape designers, commercial and residential landscape contractors to garden maintenance contractors, landscape suppliers and industry educators.

Industry support | We offer advice and support regarding licensing, insurance, dispute resolution, legislative changes, education, training and much more. MLSA members are entitled to free or discounted licensing, legal, insurance and financial support thanks to our sponsors from the professional services sector, who have an indepth understanding of the landscape industry.

Advocacy | MLSA actively lobbies the government for improvements in the landscaping industry. From licensing changes to skills recognition, we fight to improve the landscaping sector for the benefit of our members and associated suppliers.

Professional development | One of the strengths of MLSA Members is their horticultural knowledge, combined with their understanding of structural landscaping requirements. As such, we host educational workshops on fundamental practical skills relevant to the landscaping trade and professional development such as business management and leadership skills.

Public awareness | MLSA continue to educate the public and unlicensed landscapers of their legal responsibilities and the dangers of operating unlicensed or engaging an unlicensed tradesperson. We continue to encourage professional practice in the landscaping industry and seek to enhance the professional standing of members among the broader horticulture and building industries. We promote the benefits of engaging appropriately licensed and professional landscapers via advertising campaigns and our involvement in trade shows and expos.

Industry Information | MLSA’s fortnightly eNewsletter includes the latest industry news, event invitations and updates to industry regulations that all SA landscape professionals need to be aware of. MLSA’s social media feeds are designed to keep our members informed, up to date and inspired.

Networking & connection | MLSA offers the opportunity to network with fellow professionals, enhance business practice through further education, and access a range of services including insurance, marketing opportunities, seminars, and informal get-togethers.

Skills recognition | The Master Landscapers of SA Awards of Excellence represents the best in skill, craftsmanship and expertise evident within the landscaping industry of South Australia. Members compete for the privilege of being an MLSA Award of Excellence recipient and promote their best-in-class abilities to the community. An independent panel of judges with expertise in landscaping assess the entries and ensure the required standard of excellence is achieved and recognised. Industry members and the public can view the winning designs on the MLSAs website, Instagram and Facebook pages. The awards highlight not only the exceptional quality of the work of MLSA Members but also the extent to which they contribute to communities throughout South Australia.
