As part of the urban renewal project, luxury apartments were erected and the Rozelle Tramsheds Depot was restored. Originally built in 1904, the Tramsheds were formerly used for tram storage and operations and housed up to 200 trams. Closing in 1958, the depot and the trams sat idle for decades. The effects of vandalism pretty much destroyed the near-perfect original trams.  
Mirvac purchased the entire site in 2010 with the intent to construct medium density housing. Following lengthy restoration, the new Tramsheds opened in September 2016 as a hub for food and dining. Able to retain much of the original building, the new hub projects a feeling of nostalgia and romance. An original tram was carefully restored in Bendigo and placed within the restored building.
In developing the apartment complex on the site the architects incorporated gabion walls and landscaped gardens into the design. Permathene was commissioned to supply AL-TEN™ gabion for the retaining walls and walls built along the canal. Construction was completed by Sydney firm Nviroscope and built to a very high standard. Every rock was hand placed into the 2m x .5m x .5m gabion cages.
