FUN FOR ALL AGES

When tasked with outfitting a multi-purpose outdoor youth space that caters to older children, Proludic hit the nail on the head with an adventure park full of high-flying thrills. Located in Mount Annan, 60km south-west of Sydney, Birriwa Reserve is an adventurous and exciting outdoor youth space replete with play and sports equipment that meets the recreational needs of 12 to 17 year olds.

A study undertaken by Camden Council revealed there are more 12 to 17-year-old youths in Mt Annan than any other suburb in the Macarthur region. This study identified the need for the development of a multipurpose outdoor space with larger adventure equipment, to fit the requirements of an older demographic, as one of the town’s top ten priorities.

Proludic was proud to contribute to this large-scale project with a range of equipment that would fulfil the objectives of the Council’s initiative.

The reserve’s parkland setting consists of four main sections that offer a choice of adventurous play opportunities and passive recreation spaces, blended together seamlessly with attractive soft landscaping and accessible pathways throughout the project that help provide access to all zones.

Suitable for a range of activities, the park also includes an outdoor table tennis area and two fenced multi-purpose courts line-marked for basketball and football. An additional play facility geared toward younger children is located nearby.

The main feature of the Birrawa outdoor youth space for teens is the custom-designed Proludic Tower and Tube Slide combined with a Dynamo Galaxy pyramid net, which links to a net bridge and 30m-long double cableway. The tower stands an exciting 4m in height, while the tube slide offers a dizzying ride from 3m up. The Dynamo Galaxy Net stands at an impressive 8.7m in height and provides scaling challenges for the truly adventurous.

Also incuded is the Proludic Skysurf, a unique piece that replicates the sensation of windsurfing, providing big thrills for teens as they swing through the air. Proludic’s Rodeoboard and Hip Hop items also provide multi-player fun, while a large rotating swing can be used by groups of friends or alone.

While the outdoor youth space caters to the needs of teens in the region, the little ones haven't been left out. Equipment geared toward younger players can be found in the adjacent playground. The Metropolis-themed playground for little ones includes a range of age-appropriate equipment to keep them entertained.

The grand opening of Birrawa outdoor youth space took place in May 2016 and was a huge hit with the local community. Hundreds of children played on the equipment all day long, even queuing to have a go on their favourite piece of equipment!

The multi-generational playspaces within the reserve offer a safe zone for children of all ages and abilities and is a real asset to the region.
