THE NEXT GENERATION IN RECYCLED COMPOSITE PLASTICS
27 Aug 2014
Envire is setting new benchmarks for replacing wooden park products with an engineered composite material of far greater durability and practicality.
The patented Envire process uses vine covers, grain bags, irrigation pipe and polystyrene from grape growers in Victoria’s Sunraysia district and a wide variety of polyethylene and polystyrene plastic waste from industrial, transport, retail and consumer sources to produce its unique composite material.
Polystyrene may be the hardest plastic to dispose of but in Envire’s unique mix it becomes a strength giving Envire a texture and consistency that mimics wood. In total, the plastic waste recycled into Envire products saves more than 400 tonnes going into landfill each year.
Red gum off-cuts are another waste product that Envire puts to good use. Years of testing proved that a particular mix of plastics and importantly, long strand organic fibres created a totally unique composite material that worked like wood but without the disadvantages of wood.
Envire absorbs and resists impact. Unlike wood, Envire will flex and rebound after most impacts. It breaks clean while wood shatters creating dangerous spikes. It can be routed for signage, drilled, screwed and sawn like wood and its surface is smooth to touch without splinters.
Unlike CCA treated timber, Envire products will not leach chemicals into the soil.
It is unaffected by extreme weather - very high and very low temperatures do not affect it.
Envire can also be immersed in water indefinitely making it perfect for sensitive marine environments.
It is UV resistant and will not degrade under fierce sunlight.
Envire is also immune to all pests including white ant attack and unlike wood, Envire products will never rot.
The Envire range includes bollards of all shapes and sizes, outdoor tables, benches, seating, signage, posts, poles, totems, decking, fencing, boardwalks, planks, sleepers, garden edging, and continuous lengths. It comes in three standard colours but others are available on request.
Envire’s patented material has an extremely long life span and could be recycled up to four times before any degradation in quality. That makes it an ideal replacement for wood in agriculture, horticulture, aquaculture and landscaping as well a variety of industrial and everyday uses.
Most importantly of all, Envire is an extremely cost-effective option in all these applications.
