INNOVATIVE TREE ANCHORING SYSTEMS

Cirtex can now offer landscapers a better tree anchoring system, the Cirtex Platipus D-MAN System is an easier, more flexible way to secure the foundation of trees with a range of sizes, rootball shapes and lengths.
The Cirtex Platipus D-MAN system is a new advancement in underground tree anchoring systems. The systems plastic cell structure and surface area provides the anchor point in the soil and is designed primarily to replace the traditional Deadman tree anchoring system, of which concrete sleepers are used as the anchor point in areas where normal underground driven anchors are impossible to use, due to services, shallow soil and roof gardens.
The D-Man system faces these challenges head on and is designed to allow maximum anchorage with minimum weight. The system is designed to easily lock together and can be stacked to create a structural system to suit any planting area. This allows for trees with varied rootball heights to be planted level and this provides more options around the architecture of the soil.
The D-MAN cells are placed into the pit or onto the podium surface, backfilled and compacted and once the tree is positioned, it can then be anchored into place using the wire, ratchet tensioner and protection of the Platimats over the rootballs. The area can then be backfilled and ready for above ground landscaping works to be carried out.
The D-Man system is ideal for podium applications as it overcomes the requirement of the anchoring point penetrating through waterproof membranes and into the structure, so greatly reducing the risk of membrane failure.
In addition to the D-Man, Cirtex also offers systems for into grade, Palm tree, Deadman, eyebolt and guying applications.
Cirtex recently put the installation of the Platipus Deadman system to the test in a planting project on Edward Street, Brisbane City. With the help of the system, the trees not only transformed the aesthetics of the street but safely provided shade for pedestrians in this sun-stricken area. The images on the left show the initial street, the installation of the Platipus Deadman System and the finished tree-lined streetscape.
The video below shows the installation process for the Platipus Deadman system and demonstrates just how effective the process is.
Cirtex also offers a range of permeable paving for turf and gravel along with the AluExcel range of landscape edging. Further information on these ranges can be found at www.cirtex.com.au/landscape
