" I’m confident it (the Plaza) will prove a valued asset to the community."
The centre will also increase employment opportunities in the region, with the existing teams from Target Country and Coles Patten Street store set to relocate to the the Plaza, as well as an additional 80 jobs at Coles and 35 extra jobs at Target. Overall the centre is expected to support a total of 290 jobs once opperational, and has facilitated 165 construction jobs in its creation.
Mawsons role in this dynamic project has been through the supply of concrete and quarry products. Mawsons Broken Hill Concrete began by pouring the main slab for K W Earthmoving in early June 2013 using the mix design N3220 with helix fibres, we then moved out side and poured the drive ways and the slabs for the water tanks. Core filling some block work for the car park was the next job on our involvement agenda, and Mawsons joined up with Stratacrete to spray a retaining wall. Currently we are in the process of doing the front veranda using onyx pigment , and kerbing around the car park.
In the last week of January 2014, aprox 10,000 tonne of crushed rock from our Broken Hill Quarry was supplied to contractors, Central West Civil, for use the the Broken Hill Plaza carpark.
Mawsons has been delighted to play a part in such a great project, one that is set to bring economic and employment benefit to the communities of far western New South Wales.
