2023 VICTORIAN LANDSCAPE AWARD WINNERS UNVEILED

The 2023 Victorian Landscape Awards, hosted by Landscaping Victoria Master Landscapers this past Saturday 28 October 2023, not only surpassed expectations but set a new benchmark for excellence in landscaping. With a remarkable surge in entries, a sold-out gala event and a pool of outstanding winners, this was a truly remarkable year for the competition.
The quality of work submitted for consideration was nothing short of exceptional. The panel of judges faced an immensely challenging task in selecting the winners this year, a clear reflection of the remarkable benchmark of talent within the industry.
The highlight of the evening was the crowning of MINT Pool & Landscape Design as the recipient of the prestigious "Landscape of the Year" Award for their outstanding Yarraville Project. Judges praised this project for its visionary design and its ability to overcome complex challenges.
The judges' highlighted the exceptional qualities of the Yarraville Project, stating, "Starting with a thorough plan and a clear vision and interpretation of a challenging brief, this is a garden of exceptional achievement with a visionary design that deals with the complexities of the site and existing conditions. Creative, dynamic solutions, such as the turntable driveway, have been meticulously documented to professional excellence. Each separate space blends into the next, and the layout delivers a high aesthetic and functionality. This award-winning garden effortlessly merges with the architectural landscape while artfully preserving the beautiful peppercorn tree, culminating in a truly unique and captivating entertainer's garden."
Additional winning projects encompass an accessible ramp in Sunbury, impeccably crafted with precision, a transformation of a closed roadway segment into a vibrant and functional green space for local school communities, a captivating entrance in Brighton adorned with lush planting cascading gracefully from the second level of the residence, and an exceptional sustainable design in Bells Beach. This Bells Beach project is a truly captivating and inspiring example of domestic sustainability, demonstrating the industry's forward-thinking response to the urgency of accelerated climate change.
Botanic Horticulture took out the Nic van Diemen Award for Excellence shown by a first-time entrant and the 2023 Rising Star was awarded to ACM Outdoors for exemplifying a remarkable commitment to their business, while Smart Water was the winner of the Supplier of the Year Award. LVML also extend a special mention to the recipients of the Apprentice of the Year in Construction & Horticulture awards. These gifted individuals are the embodiment of the industry's next generation. Their dedication, skills and passion promise a bright future for the landscaping profession, and are applauded for their extraordinary accomplishments.
LVML Event Officer, Bianca Lewicki, commented that the calibre of entrants this year was exceptional, resulting in some very hotly contested categories in this year’s competition.

These awards continue to serve as a remarkable showcase of landscaping excellence, reinforcing the importance of selecting a Master Landscaper when embarking on any landscaping project for the general public." said Ms Lewicki.
