Kids from all over Moreton Bay and greater Brisbane can once again enjoy a world class playground on Scarborough’s beachfront after reconstruction works were completed in May this year. The park has long been a favourite of the community, offering themed play activities for toddlers and school aged children amidst a forest of cottonwood trees which provide natural climbing challenges.
After a complete transformation including extensive landscaping, improved shade structures, and the replacement of old play equipment, the upgraded play space provides new opportunities for creative play with exciting equipment geared towards older children.

Toddlers can play in complete safety within the fully fenced park, while older children can enjoy the challenges of a lookout climbing net which provides a great view of Moreton Island.
Urban Play consultant Nikita Burns, a key player in the playground’s design and installation, highlighted the importance of preserving and renewing this historic park. “The playground has been the main drawcard of Scarborough Beach Park for over twenty years,” she said. “We have the responsibility to ensure that it can continue to be enjoyed by future generations.”
The design and construction of Scarborough Beach Park was a Moreton Bay Regional Council initiative, with all play equipment designed and supplied by Urban Play.
