A GREENER BOWEN HILL TERRACE

Penfold Projects has transformed Bowen Hill Terrace streetscape into an oasis of subtropical plant life.
Brisbane City Council is partaking in the Greener Suburbs program, aimed at improving suburbia into cleaner environments through increased planting and landscaping. Bowen Hill Terrace is one of many suburbs that underwent this facelift to its urban life. Penfold Projects were contracted by Brisbane City Council to renovate the area. The project scope included planting trees and creating a subtropical environment along multiple streets.
Penfold Projects completed remulching, relocation of existing turf, new shrubbery and installation of new plants into improved garden beds. All plant life was selected specifically to fit the brief of creating a subtropical landscape. The array of greens between roads and curbside makes walkers feel as though they are on a relaxing island getaway. With complementary water views, the sidewalk has been renewed into a subtle paradise. Saw cutting and removing of asphalt was also included in the design plan, to accommodate the fresh landscape. To preserve a natural distance between roads, bike lanes and sidewalks, an establishment of flower beds and grass areas creates the divide.
The Bowen Hill Terrace project sits beautifully along residential streets with city and water views. With lush greenspace to go for a run or take the dog to the park, the area was already a hit in the local community. With the inclusion of the Greener Suburbs program and Penfold Projects taking on the task, Bowen Hill has been transformed into a picturesque dream.
