Avalanche
Avalanche Garden
If it is beautiful white flowers that your clients are after, Paradise Helen (C sasanqua ‘Paradise Helen’ PBR) is a very popular, low-to-medium growing variety with very dense foliage. Slimline Avalanche (C sasanqua ‘Parava’ PBR) is slender growing with an avalanche of stunning clear white flowers, ideal for narrow spaces. Paradise Little Liane PBR (C sasanqua) is a low growing variety perfectly suited to low hedging around the 1-1.5m mark.
Sayaka
If you love some colour, but still like a softer feel, look out for varieties which have two-tone flowers. Paradise Susan (C sasanqua ‘Parsusan’ PBR) is a large single white bloom edged with a bold splash of dark pink. Paradise Blush is an oldie but a goody! As the name suggests, the flowers are a blushed pink colour and the habit is perfect for hedging or screening. Paradise Sayaka (C sasanqua ‘Parsay’ PBR) is similar in colour to Paradise Blush, but with a more arching habit.
With Love
If a splash of pink is more your style, there are plenty to choose from. For very fast, upright growth – perfect for hiding a shed or a nosy neighbour, the Paradise Diana (C sasanqua ‘Pardiana’ PBR) is one of the best! Big early single blooms of beautiful soft pink and a golden centre of stamens. Paradise Olivia (C sasanqua ‘Paroli’ PBR), is similar to Paradise Diana (C sasanqua ‘Pardiana’ PBR) in speed and size, but has full blooms, for a narrow space try Slimline With Love (C sasanqua ‘Parlove’ PBR), and for low hedging (1-1.5m) you can’t go past Petite Pink.
Petite Pink Hedge
Red is not a common colour in Camellia sasanqua, however recent breeding has seen the creation of several very dark coloured flowers. For some big bold blooms, Paradise Ann (C sasanqua ‘Parann’ PBR) has medium sized full blooms. Paradise Caroline (C sasanqua ‘Parcaroline’ PBR) is a very deep colour and the blooms will often turn lavender-purple in cooler regions. Paradise Crimson Belle (C sasanqua ‘Parcrim’ PBR) is one of the earliest Camellias to flower (starting in March in NSW) with lots of eye-catching single blooms. Paradise Exotic Jewel (C sasanqua ‘Parexo’ PBR)is a bit later to flower but also has lots of flower power and very deep coloured blooms.
