A NEW DECADE FOR PARIS BASKETBALL COURT
28 Jan 2020
The Pigalle Duperré basketball court in Paris has become a local landmark, famous for its evolving creative aesthetics. The court recently received an upgrade that draws designs from the gaming-inspired collection by Pigalle and NIKE that has refreshed the site for the new decade.
Located in between two apartment buildings and an old parking lot, this court is famous for its vibrant hues and fun designs that entice the locals to come and enjoy recreational activities. The funky new design is the brainchild of French fashion brand’s Pigalle and Nike’s latest collection, alongside the creative agency ILL-Studio.
“Our court in Paris birthed a community,” said Stéphane Ashpool, creative lead for the project at Pigalle. “We transformed a parking lot into a place that has fostered a family and inspired people. All the subtle details that can make this magic happen were united….and now it’s the right time to work in expanding this scheme, staying organic, authentic and focused.”
The new design for the 2020 edition of the Pigalle Basketball Court features a gradient of rich tones in hues of purple, blue, yellow and pops of pale green. These blocks of colour are interspersed with graphic icons that reference digital games – the modern form of recreation.
The rejuvenated court reopened to the public on 22 January 2020.
