ALPHA SCHOOL HAS SHADE COVERED
02 Nov 2017
Thanks to Play Poles, the Alpha State School has a newly constructed playspace that incorporates a new range of sports amenities and a 900 square metre weather shelter to provide protection from the harsh Queensland sun.
Located approximately 300km east of Longreach in Central West Queensland, the Alpha State School caters for students from Prep to Year 10. Their school motto, Smart, Proud and Achieving, underscores their dedication to providing educational support in academics, sport and the arts for all their students.
Looking to provide the best opportunities for their students, Alpha School undertook a new construction project that would see their playground and sports amenities improved for future student use.
Travelling to the small regional town of Alpha, the expert team at Play Poles and their experienced subcontractors undertook the 3-month project of making over the school grounds. Works on the project included the construction of a new sports shelter for the children – just in time to provide protection from the harsh summer sun. In order to support the 41m x 22m canopy, a concrete slab and footings were poured to create the foundation for the fixed steel shelter sports court.
In addition, basketball and netball hoops were added to the space, along with court markings, lighting and storage sheds. A 20m walkway was constructed, linking the school’s buildings to the play space. In a nod to the dry environment, a 5000L water tank was also installed for use by the school.
A job well done by the team from Play Poles. The addition of these much-needed amenities is sure to make this summer a safer and more comfortable experience for the children of Alpha State School.
