Hulk anchors work like toggle bolts in the ground to react verified tensile loads. They do not require excavation or concrete and are available for immediate use. In the show case below HULK combined with a geotextile becomes an Anchored grid system which can be used to prevent erosion or eliminate structural issues that may exist in the soil slopes up to 70 degrees.

HMAS Kuttabul, Garden Island, NSW

An embankment at HMAS Kuttabull, Garden Island, Sydney was experiencing an erosion issue and was moving causing stress cracks at the top of the batter and erosion on the batter. The embankment suffered water ingress due to the recent heavy rains, causing it to slip and open tension cracks at the top of the batter. If left untreated there would likely be a large landslide undermining the tennis courts located on the top of the fill.

Anchoring Rope and Rigging provided a solution that would meet the strict requirements of the Department of Defence.

Anchoring Rope and Rigging provided this by way of a HULK Anchored Grid System which combines HULK percussion earth anchors and a Turf Reinforcement Mat (TRM) in this case Macmat R which combines a Double Twist mesh with a TRM. Having prepped the slope, the Macmat R was installed and then secured with HULK model H50TRK anchor kits to a depth of 2m, set and then stressed towards the batter.

Once fully secured the entire slope was seeded. HULK Grid systems are easily constructed and can provide either surficial or structural support to any embankment. They can be built near vertical.
