AUTUMN AND WINTER IS THE PERFECT TIME TO PREPARE FOR SPRING AND SUMMER
23 Apr 2024
With cooler weather comes less gardening. That's the age-old adage and it is true to a point as a lot of our plants slow down, die back, and drop leaves. The soil begins to go cold too, and this affects the growth of the plants and the surface conditions.
And of course, if growing a lot of deciduous plants, there is the constant raking of the leaves. In nature, deciduous leaves are broken down by soil organisms and the enzymes they produce and create a layer of mulch that keeps the soil surface warm and ensures the soil stays open around the roots. Without these vital organisms the leaves don't break down and then tend to become hydrophobic resulting in the soil becoming compacted and dry, and not accepting the spring rains.
Earthlife understands these issues as they are based in the garden city of Toowoomba and deal with deciduous leaf drop every winter. They have been able to develop a simple-to-use product made from the natural enzymes and acids that the soil bacteria produce to break down the fallen leaves. To keep it even simpler it is called Earthlife Break Down, describing exactly what it does for gardens.
With added applications of Earthlife Garden Delight, with its range of minerals, humates and a plethora of soil biology to keep the processes going, gardens need not be adversely affected by the wonderful change from autumn to winter.
While little else is happening in the garden the Earthlife is ensuring that the water-repellent crust doesn't form, and then effectively conditioning that soil and leaf litter, while creating a pool of nutrients for plants to access once the days start to warm again.
When winter is upon us it is the perfect time to help to restore and fortify our gardens for the coming spring. With only a few applications of Earthlife products the gardens and lawns will begin to look after themselves leaving more time to focus on enjoying gardens and continuing the cycles that nature intended.
