Moduplay completes another successful project for St Peter’s Anglican School, using a diverse range of sensory and imaginative play products to create a playspace that’s a huge hit with students.
When St Peter’s Anglican School in Campbelltown, NSW, needed a new play area they called in Moduplay to design and install it. Having successfully created several projects for St Peter’s in the past, Moduplay was the natural choice to create the new playground for the primary school.
Developing a design brief for the new space was achieved by Moduplay in consultation with staff and students at the school, ensuring they fully understood the needs of the community. A design storyboard was put together to specifically meet the needs of St Peter’s and the end result was a bright space of age-appropriate equipment with a musical bent.
Originally containing a steep contour through the middle of the running/ball games space, Moduplay was first required to raise the drainage pit causing the contour and regrade the play area. This process produced a level playing field and eliminated the need for steps that would have formed a safety hazard.
The scope of the St Peter’s project included the removal of the existing surfacing and landscape features to provide space for a larger and better surfaced play area. New surfacing of the area was achieved with synthetic turf and wetpour rubber for safety and colour. An inbuilt sandpit was installed and a shade structure was added over a large portion of the space.
Modplay finished off the project with the supply and installation of a wide range of play equipment.
Using select pieces from their Town range, Moduplay’s series of small buildings, provided the capacity for role play in ‘town’ settings but keeps children visible to carers for safety. The life-like road signs in the Town range also assist in teaching basic road skills as children ride their bikes around the ‘roads’ in the school’s playspace.
To add a musical element to the St Peter’s playspace, Moduplay added items from their Sensory range, including age-appropriate activity panels that encourage learning and discovery. The Sensory range promotes creativity and stimulates the senses; it is also highly suitable for children with special needs.
The crowning touch on this brightly coloured and educational playground was the addition of a kid-sized train from Moduplay’s Adventure range.
The students and teachers of St Peter’s Anglican School are delighted with their new play area and owe their thanks to Moduplay once again for coming up with such a huge hit for their school.
