BESPOKE SHELTER DESIGN
27 Sep 2018
Valuing their longstanding relationship, Stoddart was once again approached by Roads ACT when it came time to develop a modular bus shelter for the Gungahlin Bus Station upgrade. Discover what makes Stoddart the best in custom design.
Working with Guidelines ACT Civil Contractors to deliver the project, the beginning of 2018 saw Stoddart Infrastructure install a total of 92m architecturally inspired shelters and walkways that bring together a wide range of materials and resources from all around Australia.
Roads ACT required a solution that not only provided ample weather protection for patrons, but also met acoustic design guidelines and worked with the wider Canberra Light Rail material/colour palette. The final aesthetic is immediately eye-catching, at almost 4m high and 5m wide, with a striking perforated plywood timber soffit flanked by bronze powdercoated cladding.
Stoddart’s innovative approach to design and fabrication, as well as their expert installation and project management, were vital to integrating a huge range of features onto the bolt-together galvanised steel frame. These include IP rated downlights, DDA seating, CCTV and PA speakers, illuminated lightboxes, and recycled glass-bead acoustic panels behind the plywood soffit to achieve the acoustic values required.
Stoddart's transport infrastructure solutions, including standard designs and custom projects like this one, are easily achieved through the company’s end-to-end service. From design and engineering through to installation and project management, Stoddart provides customers with peace of mind as they know they will always receive the most innovative outdoor infrastructure solutions.
