BILLABONG PARKLANDS BRINGS A COOL CHANGE TO CAMPBELLTOWN
19 Feb 2025
Opened in June last year, the Billabong Parklands has provided a much needed respite to Campbelltown and its surrounding suburbs. A modern waterhole, the community waterpark has been the social hub this summer.

The four hectare site combines pools and interactive water play facilities with landscaped areas, parklands and amenities. Located in the heart of the Campbelltown City Centre, the outdoor recreational destination allows members of the community to cool down closer to home in the warmer months. The closest thing you'll get to a beach in south west Sydney, the water features include a large lagoon, a stream and a zero-depth pool for the little ones.
The design draws inspiration from the nearby Dharawal National Park and Georges River and includes:
- A series of rock pools with streams channeling the nearby Dharawal National Park’s waterfalls and rock pools
- A 2.5-metre deep lagoon
- A zero-depth water play area with interactive water elements and activities for kids
- Pavilions with changing facilities along with a cafe
- Picnic areas
The swimming precinct also features a number of shady spaces to relax, ample tree cover and native tree plantings as an ode to Campbelltown’s Indigenous culture.
“The Billabong Parklands is a significant investment in the future of Campbelltown and will be a meeting place in the heart of our city for friends and families to enjoy over many generations to come," said Mayor George Greiss.
A multi-million dollar investment into the community, a focus for the precinct is to promote healthy communities, with the design fostering play, learning, creativity, and social connection for the Campbelltown community. By creating diverse spaces with cross-generational appeal, the Billabong Parklands provides a variety of settings for community events and range of amenity for recreational future use.
