CELEBRATING TEN YEARS

Despite one in three businesses failing in the first year of business and three in four by the fifth year, Rocks Plus have defeated the odds. Rocks Plus dedicates its success to all the customers, suppliers and employees who have contributed to Rocks Plus over the last ten years.

The Rocks Plus journey started when Michael Kasso identified a small rock supply company for acquisition and asked his father, Patrick, to join him to form a father/son business venture. With a vision of what the business could be, Rocks Plus began in a hidden half-acre site in Bayswater, Victoria with two old ageing trucks and two excavators.

With only a hand full of customers, no brand name, no website, no staff amenities and two employees, Rocks Plus opened its doors trading on the 1st of July 2010. The duo set out with a business plan framed by four pillars:

• Service
• Brand
• Capital
• Products

Service has many different meanings to different people but at Rocks Plus, service is its major corner stone to the entire business philosophy. Rocks Plus believe that servicing clients will lead to continued business, strong positive word of mouth and growth in sales. Strong relationships can be formed by servicing suppliers and always paying within agreed trading terms, as well as servicing employees, which will lead to employees taking pride in their place of employment, create better customer service and lead to low staff turnover. Rocks Plus are always looking for ways to further develop its service to improve relations.

When the company’s name launched - Rocks Plus - the team deliberately set out to build the name as its brand to reflect the image and personality of the company. Building the brand is a bit like making a cake in the sense that it needs many ingredients, such as; an informative website, experienced, knowledgeable and dedicated employees and targeted marketing and advertising.

For capital, Rocks Plus have worked hard to fund the upgrading of its equipment to either new or near new equipment and now are excited to have a fleet of 18 units of varying configurations to service its growing customer base.

Meeting customer needs to cater for evolving landscaping changes is critical, and Rocks Plus pride itself on having the largest landscaping rock display in Victoria with over 40 different products to choose from.
