CHELSEA'S FINISHING TOUCHES
08 May 2013
A proud supporter of Fleming’s show garden entries at Chelsea since 2008, Intergrain will provide all of the timber coatings required for this year’s garden.
World famous for showcasing only the ‘cream of the horticultural crop’ - the ‘Chelsea Flower Show’ in London will do just that as the ‘Trailfinders Australian Garden presented by Fleming’s’ plans to reveal its design featuring a number of elements complete with the highest quality Intergrain finish.
Leaving nothing to chance, the Australian team has sourced and teamed up with only the best suppliers to help give their 2013 show garden, designed by Phillip Johnson of Phillip Johnson Landscapes, the ultimate chance of a gold medal result this May.
A proud supporter of Fleming’s show garden entries since 2008, Intergrain will provide all of the timber coatings required for this year’s garden. Intergrain’s high performance coatings will be used to seal and protect the ‘sunset platform’ timber viewing deck along with a timber board walk and architecturally designed timber studio, all set to form central features of the garden’s design.
Adhering to Phillip Johnson’s environmental approach to landscape design, Intergrain’s water based, environmentally responsible products are the perfect fit for a design that will offer eco-design solutions en-force.
Intergrain Brand Manager, Krystal Brabham said Intergrain products have been designed to protect the natural beauty of timber and are recognised as Australia’s high performance, environmentally responsible timber finishes.
“Intergrain products are designed to meet the demands facing architects and landscape designers. Offering a range of environmentally friendly, long-lasting attractive finishes, Intergrain coatings are widely specified for commercial and residential timber projects, including the Trailfinders Australian Garden entry to the Chelsea Flower Show in London.
“Intergrain products are all made in Australia by an Australian owned company. Being locally produced, Intergrain has significantly less environmental impact through transport than imported products.
“Traditional timber finishes contain Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) which are greenhouse gas carbon emissions that evaporate into the atmosphere as the coating dries. These compounds are usually petro-chemical solvents which are characterised by strong chemical fumes that contribute to air pollution. Intergrain’s water-based products emit substantially less VOCs, meaning that they are the environmentally responsible option – without compromising on performance,” she said.
This year’s Trailfinders Australian Garden presented by Fleming’s pays homage to Mother Nature in both form and function.
The sustainable habitat is set to feature a monolithic stone gorge, running waterfalls, an architecturally designed studio structure and a billabong doubling as a natural swimming pond.
The 2013 Chelsea Flower Show marks the event’s centenary year, running from May 21 – 25 in the grounds of the Royal London Hospital in Chelsea.
