COLOUR POP TO CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL
14 Dec 2022
Bringing colour and life into this hospital outdoor space, British artist Morag Myerscough has created a vibrant haven for staff, visitors and patients to enjoy.
Sheffield Children’s Hospital in England now has a colourful outdoor pavilion within its Joy Garden. The Joy Pavilion features Myerscough’s signature bright colours and patterns to create a fun and inviting space. The multi-functional outdoor area is best used to relax, play, for performances and workshops.
Alongside the vibrant Joy Pavilion, the outdoor area features evergreen plantings including scented perennials and bulbs, colourful flooring mosaics and moveable furniture.
With the help of local traders to help reduce costs, the pavilion and parts of the garden are all constructed from wood. From the pavilion structure to the hand-cut wooden shingles for flooring, the natural material helps bring a warm tone to the vibrant space.
Myerscough previously worked on the interior design of the entrance to the hospital and some of the bedrooms. The creative use of colour and materials is perfect in creating a comfortable and inviting space within the hospital that staff, visitors and patients can escape to for some fresh air.
