DINOSAUR PLAYGROUND NOW AT AURA
20 Oct 2022
The first of its kind in Australia, this custom-designed dinosaur play structure casts a mighty shadow on all who dare to approach.
The Aurasaurus is the newest playground that Urban Play has brought to life at Aura. In line with Aura’s commitment to have a park within 400 metres of each home, Urban Play worked closely with the teams at Place Design Group, Stockland, Eureka Landscapes, and KOMPAN Australia to design a playspace that differed from existing playgrounds in the community. With this brief, the Aurasaurus was born, bringing to a life a Jurassic beast for the whole community to enjoy.
In a world-first design, this playground packs powerful play value on and off the impressive 6.6m tall dinosaur. While climbing on the custom Corocord nets that make up the structure, children can interact with optic panels, sound shakers, swaying pods and seats, climbing discs and membrane bridges or climb up the gigantic three-dimensional octahedron climbing net.
There’s plenty more to discover once children escape out the mouth or slide down the tail. Little palaeontologists will enjoy the rest of the prehistoric themed playground that features dinosaur eggs, an archaeological dig sandpit and swings.
Not only designed to wow, the newest playground at Aura Stockland is filled with unique play experiences and a wealth of development opportunities for physical, social, cognitive and communication skills. All equipment has been carefully selected to provide a variety of movements and activities such as climbing, sliding, swinging and balancing. These experiences work to build important motor skills, cross-body coordination, and physical capabilities in users. The swaying and bouncing of the net enables children to develop spatial awareness and balance while the dichroic panels cast colourful shadows to add to an already sensory-rich experience.
The rest of the park offers the opportunity for an excellent family day out with picnic tables, barbeques, bathrooms and hammocks available throughout the park. Since its opening, the Aurasaurus has been incredibly popular with children of all ages daring to climb into the belly of the beast.
