ECO LEISURE RESORT
28 Nov 2018
A $450 million leisure complex that will include eco-camping facilities and a waterpark could become southeast Queensland’s largest tourist resort, if the government approves the ambitious plans.

In a meeting this month with Queensland’s Tourism Minister, the Honourable Kate Jones, developer Sanad Capital revealed updated plans for its ACTVENTURE Resort development to be located on the Sunshine Coast’s Steve Irwin Way.
Phase one of the project will see a $37 million accommodation project erected on the extensive 25-hectare site, acquired by the developer in 2016 for $3.7 million. The Dubai-backed developer claims it is also in discussions with key Australian operators for the roll-out of the resort.
Currently still in the design phase, the full ACTVENTURE Resort will include a mix of eco-villas and glamping tents, restaurant, café and spa facilities, next generation waterpark, adult and family pools, slides, and sports activities. The resort will contribute significantly to the Sunshine Coast’s economy, adding much needed accommodation and providing hundreds of new jobs for the region.
With tourist resorts contributing over $20 billion to the Australian economy, a new resort venture on the Sunshine Coast is sure to build on the 3% increase shown in international visitors to the area for the year ending June 2018.
Extensive development plans for the region, like the Novotel Twin Waters project and its $8 million convention centre, continue to boost confidence in the Sunshine Coast. Major funding from the state government for infrastructure upgrades, coupled with the Sunshine Coast Airport upgrade currently under construction, are all falling into place to support increased numbers of tourists coming through in the next few years.
“With the new road upgrades and new infrastructure works and the game changing international Airport in full swing and coming on board in just 24 months, we decided to implement much needed accommodation offerings with an Eco Resort, which we are creating to meet the growing holiday market demand and current trend,” claims Sanad Capital Chief Executive Bradley Sutherland.
Sanad Capital is expected lodge the Development Application for the ACTVENTURE Resort in the coming weeks.
