ELEVATED GARDEN BRIDGE
15 Sep 2022
Architectural studio ATRIUM has designed a pedestrian green bridge suspended over a highway in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
Demonstrating a balanced relationship between nature’s needs and humans needs, the green bridge was designed to interfere with the natural landscape as little as possible. The elevated garden bridge includes an observation deck and community spaces. With an abundance of mature trees and plant life throughout, the bridge is the perfect meeting point for pedestrians to meet up with one another and enjoy the towering views of the adjacent botanical garden.
The sustainable and innovative design of the green bridge includes cone shaped posts that support the bridges’ structure. As well the use of hardwood materials and variety of greenery allow the bridge to blend into the landscape.
Including twists and turns along the way, the bridge covers a large amount of land. Mostly over a busy highway, the bridge also mixes into the surrounding landscape in an effortless and seamless design.
