ENVIROSLAT TAKES THE HIT
24 May 2017
When creating a multi-residential community in Ocean Shores, Developers chose EnviroSlat for its ability to withstand harsh coastal environments and still look good, making it a cost-effective long-term solution.
On Point Projects used their policy of building cost effective construction that stands out from the crowd to win the contract to build fourteen 1-bedroom townhouses at Ocean Shores in Northern NSW.
Known as the Rajah Road multi-residential project, Stage 1, which was completed in May 2017, consists of four townhouses and is set high on a hill to take in views of the coastline just north of the Brunswick River between Byron Bay and Tweed Heads, just 200 metres away from where the Pacific Ocean laps the shore.
This great seaside location also means an abundance of the wind, sunshine, salt and sand the north coast of NSW is famous for. Understanding the environment that you are building in is critical when choosing building materials, and with such a harsh coastal environment the external cladding, decking and screening of the Rajah Road Project needed to be carefully considered to ensure it would stand the test of time and look good while doing it.
Hardwood timber was not a viable option as it would require too much upkeep in such a harsh coastal environment and with all the additional sub-tropical moisture timber would be highly susceptible to rotting if left untreated.
To avoid these obstacles, the Developers chose Futurewood EnviroSlat weatherproof wall cladding in Slate Grey, together with solid screening slats (70mm x 15mm) in Saltbush and CleverDeck solid composite timber decking boards (138mm x 23mm x 5400mm).
The delivery and installation of Futurewood composite products went according to plan and the On Point Projects team were pleased with how easy and efficient to install the products proved to be. Even more exciting for On Point Projects is the attention that they are getting from prospective new clients based on the look and finish of the completed townhouses.
