Urban Play has been acknowledged for excellence in playground design with its playgrounds featuring in three awards at the recent PLA Regional Annual Awards.
Brisbane-based playground company, Urban Play, was a clear winner at the recent Parks and Leisure Australia (PLA) Regional Annual Awards, with their playgrounds featuring in three awards.
Bells Reach Adventure Park (Stockland & AECOM), Calamvale District Park (Brisbane City Council), and Shailer Pioneer Park (Logan City Council) received the Playspace Award – Category C, Playspace Award – Category B, and Award for Parks and Open Space Development respectively.
This is the second year in a row that Urban Play has been recognised at the PLA Regional Awards, having received the Playspace Award in 2013 for Ken Fletcher Park. In addition, Ken Fletcher Park and Bells Reach Adventure Park were also both winners at the Queensland Landscape Excellence Awards in 2013.
The PLA Awards recognise excellence in the parks and leisure sector and acknowledge businesses that are contributing to the social, environmental and economic wellbeing of the community in which they operate through providing inspiring leisure spaces. In particular, the Playspace Award is given to a project that develops an original sense of ‘place’, demonstrates best practice, and encourages children to engage in healthy play.
With increasing numbers of Australian children facing health issues related to sedentary lifestyles, the contribution that companies like Urban Play are making to their local communities is more valuable than ever.
By designing and installing innovative destination playgrounds, Urban Play is committed to promoting healthy physical exercise and providing unique and engaging play spaces that both kids and parents adore.
“When designing playgrounds we are always focussed on creating quality spaces that provide maximum play value for all ages and abilities, that are both stimulating and challenging for children, and that offer a new experience every time they visit,” said Ben Urban, Director of Urban Play.
The company’s recent success at the PLA Awards also confirms their reputation as leaders in the playground industry in their own right.
