ROOF WITH A VIEW
Set high above the Brisbane Skyline, this lush and natural landscape gives homeowners a vantage point worth crowing about.
Working from the ground floor up, landscape specialists Penfold Projects were tasked with greenifying this new residential tower in Brisbane’s desirable suburb of Kangaroo Point. Working across multiple levels, Penfold designed a lush subtropical greenscape that culminated in a stunning rooftop oasis.
Developed by award-winning developer Aria Property Group, this luxury residential highrise features a unique zig-zag profile that reflects plenty of hard angles and straight lines. Tasked with softening the lines of the structure, Penfold worked to relax its edges by introducing sub-tropical plantings in a modern resort style that complements the climate of the area and guarantees a lush showing year-round.
On the ground level, a leafy abundance of shrubs and groundcovers that contribute a soft texture and vibrant colour surround the building. Precast benches and a winding path make their way through the landscape, providing relaxing pockets for residents to enjoy. Known as The Retreat, the tropical-themed entry statement welcomes guests and residents into the building, branching off into green corridors that lead to tranquil secluded greenspaces at the back of the building.
Climbing its way up the outside of the building, overflowing planters provide a green highway that rises to the pinnacle set atop the building’s roof. Comprised of large open spaces for communal enjoyment and smaller intimate spots, the rooftop haven brings together a variety of plantings to form an abundant tropical refuge.
The Rooftop Club, as it is known, offers prestige amenities that include a gym, barbecue area, infinity pool and a communal room that can be used by residents. One of the area’s most beloved amenities is the rooftop spa. Nestled among the shrubbery, the circular water well provides users the opportunity to soak at their leisure while enjoying uninterrupted views of the city skyline, surrounded by nature.
Nooks for tables and seating dot the elevated landscape, set between mature ex-ground palms that were transported to the rooftop by crane. Building so far above the city is never an easy feat, and transporting tonnes of turf, soil and mulch via the building’s lifts to the rooftop was a challenging endeavour for the talented team at Penfold Projects - but you’d be hard pressed to argue with the final results!
