The 2016 PLA Conference theme is A TOOL KIT FOR CHANGE. It is a cliché to say that “the only constant is change”, but nothing could be truer. In an industry that is challenged daily to seek out new ways to continue to maintain quality spaces and to provide access to services that build healthy communities, change in inevitable. So what is the best way to work through the issues required to achieve this? What tool/s can be used to tackle that task? At this year’s conference PLA is going to give you a host of TOOLS to take back to your workplace to help address some of these issues!

To help provide insight, inspiration and helpful knowledge with which to fill your tool belt, PLA have organised a host of industry speakers in a lineup previously not seen at any other conference.
To kick of proceedings, the Keynote Speakers on the first full day of the conference will be:
MARK MCCRINDLE
Mark is an award-winning social researcher, best-selling author, TedX speaker and influential thought leader, and is regularly commissioned to deliver strategy and advice to the boards and executive committees of some of Australia’s leading organisations.
Mark’s understanding of the key social trends as well as his engaging communication style places him in high demand. His research firm counts amongst its clients more than 100 of Australia’s largest companies, and his highly valued reports and infographics have developed his regard as a data scientist, demographer, futurist and social commentator.
HOLLY RANSOM
Holly was appointed to Co-Chair of the United Nations Global Coalition of Young Women Entrepreneurs and became the youngest ever female Director of an AFL club with her appointment to the Port Adelaide Football Club board.

After 14 years with the LA Bureau of Engineering, Michael Shull joined the City’s Department of Recreation and Parks in July 2005 and was appointed General Manager in August 2014. Michael is responsible for over 390 recreation and parks facilities located on over 15,600 acres.

INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF PUBLIC PARTICIPATION
Carla specialises in working with decision makers at federal, state and local government levels – designing over 500 successful community engagement strategies including highly controversial campaigns such as rating review, land sales and high density urban planning strategies.
XIAOYAN LU
AUSTRALIAN SPORTS COMMISSION
Xiaoyan Lu is the Director of the Sport Market Insights program of the Australian Sports Commission. She leads a team responsible for managing the ASC’s community sport research agenda and conducting sector-wide primary research for the benefit of all Australian sports.
