FLOWERING GRAFTED WEEPERS
11 Aug 2022
A stunning year-round feature tree for any landscape, this collection of grafted weeping standards from Speciality Trees is especially appealing from August to September when trees are laden with flowers.
Grafted flowering weepers are known for their prolific flowering. All are grafted to 1.8 metres tall and present like a 'ball on a stick' with pendulous foliage. Planted in the right position they offer eye-catching attention with year-round seasonal interest.
Does anything signal spring is here better than an ornamental tree in the garden? Whether it is an ornamental peach, apricot or cherry, white, soft pink or crimson flowering, Speciality Trees has something perfect to meet every landscape need.
‘Snofozam’ Weeping Cherry
This is a prolific bloomer that offers autumnal colour all in one compact tree! 'Snozofam' has a strong weeping habit producing masses of white flower clusters in spring which cover the pendulous branches before the reddish-bronze new growth begins to emerge. Through the warmer months, the serrated foliage turns green and by autumn, another beautiful display of colour can be seen in shades of orange, gold and red.
Prunus serrulata ‘Cheals Weeping’
This pretty pink traditional Japanese Weeping Cherry is a prolific flowerer. Spring sees the pendulous branches covered with a show-stopping display of clear, rose pink double blooms. It is a highly ornamental feature, right down to its shiny, coppery-coloured peeling bark. New foliage emerges a bronze colour, changing to green into the warmer months, then turning to gold, orange and red hues in autumn.
Prunus persica ‘Crimson Cascade’
A contrast to the white or pretty pink flowering weepers, this 'Crimson Cascade' produces crimson foliage in spring turning to a softer reddish-green during the summer months, as well as deep crimson-red flowers on long, pendulous branching in spring. This show-stopping ornamental tree is perfect as a contrast feature tree in the landscape, adding beatiful 'pops' of rich colour to an outdoor space.
If spring bloom is not your go or if your landscape design pallet is more about autumnal colour and green foliage without blossom, this alternative collection of foliage accentuated grafted weeping standards may be of interest instead.
