KOMPAN OUTFITS QUEENSLAND’S LARGEST PLAYGROUND
13 Dec 2018
Flagstone Regional Park, south east Queensland’s largest adventure playground, is set to open this weekend in Flagstone with a fun-filled community event. Want to join in the fun?
Part of a new masterplanned community, located approximately 50km southwest of Brisbane, the park was created by KOMPAN in collaboration with Urban Play, Cusp Landscape Architecture and Urban Design. The successful project is already being acknowledged as one of the largest adventure playgrounds in Australia.
Headlining the space is an 11m Activity Tower from KOMPAN Design Studio, the first to be installed in Australia. Intended to be a beacon of play for local kids, its scale means it soars over the 10 hectares of surrounding parklands.
The Activity Tower is also connected to a custom Corocord Sky Walk. Since their launch, these unique structures have taken the play sector in Australia by storm, but this is the first project worldwide in which an Activity Tower has been connected to a Sky Walk.
Also connected to the Sky Walk are dual racing slides, which are sure to make for hours of competitive sliding action. Located beneath the Sky Walk, the challenging Corocord Octa Net develops little muscles and bone density, as well as engaging problem-solving skills and improving coordination and agility.
There are also plenty of play opportunities for little ones who want to stay a little closer to Earth. A special ‘toddler town’ includes a custom Corocord Toddler Bug for climbing fun and equipment from KOMPAN’s popular Moments™ range. Other equipment includes a Double Cableway (flying fox), and a custom Corocord Loop Swing.
The $12 million public space represents a crucial piece of the puzzle in the overall Flagstone City masterplan. The Greater Flagstone Priority Development Area is designed to accommodate a population of 50,000 dwellings and 120,000 people within the next 30 years, making it a crucial player in the predicted population boom between Brisbane and the Gold Coast. The completion of the playground complements an already enviable public space, which includes existing KOMPAN play equipment, a skate plaza, a multi sports court, fitness equipment, mini football field and public plaza area.
The opening of Flagstone Regional Park is taking place this Saturday as part of the community’s Christmas celebrations. If you’re in the area, come along and join the fun.
