DeckSTAR™ Merbau decking and screening is an environmentally sustainable composite material that offers a range of advantages over more conventional timber products.
National Forest Products (NFP) is a timber and decking supplier with over 30 years' experience in the timber industry. One of the innovative products offered by NFP is DeckSTAR™ Merbau decking and screening.
DeckSTAR™ Merbau is a unique and environmentally sustainable composite decking and screening product. In a conscious effort to promote responsible wood production, all DeckSTAR™ Merbau products are manufactured purely from unwanted off-cuts that are accumulated from the production of other solid products, including ‘regular’ merbau decking. This means no trees are cut down for the specific manufacture of DeckSTAR™ Merbau products. Additionally, the manufacturers source their raw materials from legal, government controlled resources.
DeckSTAR™ has a number of advantages over regular timber, including:
- Set lengths - eliminates random or short lengths
- Defect free and gun-barrel straight
- Specially formulated teak oil finish
- Environmentally friendly and sustainable method of production
- Cuts down on wastage
- Saves time and money
Unlike most composite decking products, DeckSTAR Merbau is 100% Merbau species, apart from the binding glue element. It is not composed of reconstituted plastic/petrochemical products, many of which do not feel or look like timber.
The glue that binds the decking together is a phenol-resorcinol glue that is used extensively throughout Europe and Japan. It complies with European and Japanese standards for industrial, water-proof adhesives, making DeckSTAR™ not just suitable for outdoor use but also for marine and saltwater use.
All DeckSTAR™ products and production have ISO-9001 quality control accreditation, guaranteeing all their products are ‘fit for purpose’ and offer a specific guarantee against faulty workmanship and defective materials.
