LEARNING AND PERFORMANCE SPACES (LAPS)
Scully’s special Learning and Performance Spaces (LAPS) are installed in schools to assist students in gaining knowledge about the values of healthy, sustainable living. They also encourage performance, drama and debating in a relaxed and open space.
LAPS are a new ‘sustainable choice’ area. They can incorporate recycled plastic-wood decking, seating, outdoor classrooms, performance platforms, food gardens and play areas, and feature art installations. These spaces can also include butterfly gardens, native stingless bee hives, sand and water play areas, and green space for exploring the natural world.
LAPS are a proven favourite with children. They not only serve the purpose of creating a space for learning and performing, they also provide ideal lunch and recess areas, and broaden the activities available for before and after school care.
Each LAPS area is designed according to the schools specific requirements and environment. For instance, they can incorporate art installations using birds and animals unique to that area.
SCULLY also offers a range of shade sails and shelters that are perfect for Garden Clubs.
TRIAX SHADE STRUCTURES
The innovative Triax system provides a lightweight and flexible system for the design and installation of waterproof or fabric shade structures.
These structures can be wall-mounted, roof-mounted or freestanding on posts. The tension of the membrane cover is not transmitted to the mounting points, instead it is contained within the frame itself. This means that unlike traditional membrane covers, the structural integrity of existing buildings is not compromised by the addition of a Triax structure.
The Triax system is highly adaptable, enabling difficult site restrictions to be overcome and minor design modifications can be made if needed. Spans of 6 metres or more between supporting bearers can be achieved.
