OZBREED LIVING PAVERS™

Having trouble protecting your landscape from wear and tear in high traffic pedestrian and vehicle areas? Look no further than Ozbreed’s Living Pavers™ range.
Ozbreed Living Pavers™ are pre-grown plastic cellular pavers. These tough, wear-resistant pavers have been designed to cope with vehicle traffic when used with grass, and are suitable for high volume pedestrian areas. These living pavers make a great courtyard ground cover that allows plants to cope with foot traffic that would usually result in poor growth in certain areas.
For many years it has been the practice that landscape professionals use gaps between pavers to grow ground cover plants. This was undertaken to allow the vegetation to cope with reasonable wear from continuous ground traffic. Now, however, grass plastic pavers have been installed on site with turf for the same areas and are delivering excellent results.
The plastic cells reduce compaction and take much of the wear load away from the plants or grass. Best of all, the square shape of the pavers makes them easier to install than the hexagonal shape type. The pavers can also be mixed with 450mm concrete pavers, making a checker board pattern for example.
The Living Pavers™ allow ground cover plants and turf grass to cope with far higher wear making them ideal for high wear situations such as:
- Driveways
- Residential backyards
- Pocket parks and general high traffic areas in parks
- Courtyards
- Paths
- Sides of houses
- Disabled access paths
- Roadside pull over areas
- Roof top ground covers
- Vehicle parking
For these projects and more Ozbreed currently, offer three varieties of pre-grown Living Paver™ to suit a range of project needs.
Dichondra repens |This dense, shade tolerant ground cover is not normally wear tolerant, but being grown in 3-dimensional cellular pavers allows the plastic of the paver to protect the plant from wear. Tolerant of up to 80-85% shade it is more shade tolerant than Buffalo, but needs the protection of Living Pavers™ to handle wear
*Limited quantities available early 2017.
Mini Mondo |Mini Mondo loves the shade, and needs no mowing, but can only handle minor wear. Being pre-grown in Living Pavers™ greatly increases the wear tolerance of Mini Mondo. While the initial outlay price of this product is higher to grow in this Living Pavers™, the lack of maintenance required over time pays for the initial cost.
*Limited quantities available early 2017.
Empire™ Zoysia | This variety is currently only grown to order due to its higher maintenance costs in the nursery. This turf grown Living Pavers™ can handle vehicle traffic, and high pedestrian and pet wear. For high wear areas with up to 50% shade, and for minimal maintenance, Empire™ Zoysia (Empire™ Zoysia japonica ‘SS500’ PBR) is the best choice.
*Please note that 3-4 months’ notice is required for Empire™ Zoysia orders.
As Ozbreed expands their Living Paver™ range, additional turf and grass varieties will be made available for purchase. Further research is currently being undertaken on the Kikuyu and Buffalo varieties, however, trials conducted by Ozbreed so far indicate that the best variety performance has been seen in the Empire™ Zoysia variety.
