PLANT A POT OF GOLD
19 Apr 2018
A long hot summer can leave your plants looking drab and tired. Pot of Gold, Ausflora Pacific’s new Leucadendron, has stunning green foliage and golden petals that will stand out all-year-round, no matter the season.
Ausflora Pacific has supplied plants and cut flowers to landscapers, wholesalers, retailers and growers for over 30 years. Their latest release is the new variegated Leucadendron hybrid Pot of Gold, a medium-sized shrub with variegated foliage. The green and gold foliage stands out year-round, with intricate red highlights featuring on new summer growth. However, this plant truly blossoms in spring, when it bursts with beautiful yellow blooms that add life and colour to any outdoor landscape.
The shrub will grow to 2.5 metres in height and 1.5 metres in width. As with most Leucadendrons, Pot of Gold is drought tolerant but will require watering in dry periods until it is established. It will thrive with full sun, free draining and slightly acidic soil. It is optimal to prune once a year when the flowers start to recede as summer begins, in order to maintain its shape and promote new growth.
Ausflora were excited to display the Pot of Gold at the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show 2018, in the Tree & Shrub Growers display. This shrub is available to purchase in 140mm and 200mm.
