PLAYGROUND OF THE CARIBBEAN
21 May 2019
Royal Caribbean International has opened its doors to an exciting new waterpark on the company’s private island in the Bahamas, which features vibrant and thrilling record-breaking attractions, including the tallest slide in North America and the Caribbean’s largest wave pool.
Bright colours pop from every angle in this vibrant getaway destination, and the crown jewel is the thrill-inducing waterpark standing at the centre. The park features two colossal towers with a staggering 13 waterslides, and at the centre, standing at 41 metres high, is the tallest waterslide in North America, accurately named Daredevil’s Peak.
Daredevil’s Peak is one of the seven slides that spiral down around the central tower, commanding the eye from any angle of the park. The tower is comprised of a range of irregularly placed slats that expose the series of interconnecting pipes below.
A similarly-designed smaller tower features six multi-rider slides, which include the Twister – a winding tube for a double raft, a four-person zero-gravity slide, and a four-lane splash speedway racing slide.
A hot air balloon hovers high above the island, offering a spectacular view of the coloured spectacle below.
This waterpark is the first in the cruise company’s new ‘Perfect Day Island Collection’, which comprises of “next-level” private paradises around the world. The island includes a 182-metre zipline that soars across the island and ends in a thrilling splash water landing. The Caribbean’s largest wave pool is also a key feature of this destination.
Most of the features are currently open to visitors, with the rest to open in December 2019. The cruise line has a range of Perfect Day Destinations under development in Asia, Australia and the Caribbean.
