PROLUDIC CELEBRATES 10 YEARS
15 Oct 2020
One of Australia’s most prominent playspace companies, Proludic, is celebrating 10 years of designing the perfect outdoor playground equipment for the Australian environment.
Proludic launched in 2010 when managing director Steve Walding, and his business partner and wife Madeleine Walding, saw an opportunity for a design-led company 100 percent suited to the Australian environment.
A PLAYGROUND FOR EVERY AUSTRALIAN
“When I began working in the field 20 years ago, play equipment was functional, but there wasn’t a lot of playground design involved. You might find a swing, a slide and a basic climbing unit in your local park, but not much more,” claims Steve. “We wanted to make playgrounds that are designed by Australians for Australian families.”

For Proludic, this includes creating spaces that all children can enjoy. “Inclusive design is fundamental. We’ve had a longstanding commitment to creating play equipment and inclusive playspaces” Steve says. In 2016, Proludic won a Good Design Award Gold Winner Accolade in Australia’s International Good Design Awards for its Inclusive Play Areas Guide which, since its release, has led to more projects being designed along inclusive play guidelines.

AUSTRALIA LEADING THE WORLD IN DESIGNING PLAY ENVIRONMENTS
Australian’s have a strong outdoor culture and high expectations about what makes a good playground. That’s why, according to Proludic, Australia is now leading the world in designing play environments. “There’s been an increase in community expectations and investment in better playspaces. It’s given us an enormous opportunity to implement new ideas and develop better products." For example, Proludic's innovative and award-winning Kanope and Grafic Games ranges have been implemented in many playgrounds throughout Australia to highlight the local environment and provide a site-specific design solution.

DESIGNING PLAY EQUIPMENT KIDS LOVE
Proludic takes an innovative and sustainable approach to their playspace development projects. “Our philosophy is to provide opportunities for children to choose how they play. Children’s needs always come first in every design, but client service is also fundamental to us,” Steve explains.

At the forefront of every project, is a deep understanding of what children want. “Playgrounds are all about kids being active and having fun. They’re a focal point for thriving communities to meet, relax, get fit and enjoy each other’s company. They’re a central ingredient of what makes somewhere a good place to live.”
