Sourced from the Lachlan River Valley near Cowra in NSW, Cowra Quartz pebbles are distributed throughout Australia. For over 60 years this small Cowra quarry has been producing quartz pebbles for decorative, landscape and industrial purposes.
The distinct colour and shape of Cowra Quartz is seen in many of Australia’s major landscaping projects, and is often included in premier buildings and architectural homes throughout Australia.
“Cowra pebbles are high quality and versatile. They can be seen across multiple major landscaping projects across the greater Sydney region” said Mick Williams – Groups Sales and Marketing Manager at Benedict.
Cowra Quartz’s White and Gold pebbles are available in various sizes ranging from 2 - 40mm. Apart from the iconic 20mm product lines, there are almost 30 other products utilising Cowra Quartz that regularly make their way into a diverse range of industries and applications including, bricks, pavers, water filtration, exposed and honed concrete surfaces, terrazzo, asphalt and high spec concrete. Cowra pebble can be found anywhere from architecturally designed homes on the Great Ocean Road to water filtration systems in the South Pacific Islands.
You will find these pebble varieties in all good nurseries and landscape yards available for retail sale. But don’t worry if you can’t! Benedict Sand and Gravel can supply either direct to your job or ex-bin from the quarry at Cowra. With our current reserves it means Cowra Quartz will be producing White and Gold pebble and sand for upwards of 40 years.
It doesn’t stop there!
Cowra also produces washed, high grade, fine silica sand. The high silica content enables customers to utilise the sand in specialty concrete situations, including scientific laboratory walls where low radiation absorption is needed. It is also widely utilised in premix concrete -in fact most RMS jobs in Central West NSW use Cowra sand.
