SPECIALITY TREES OFFERS MORE THAN JUST QUALITY TREE SUPPLY
02 Feb 2023
Speciality Trees has a 46-year reputation for growing sustainably produced, quality-grown advanced trees for landscapes, designers, developers, councils, retailers and consumers. The company offers more than just tree supply with a number of tree related services to support the tree purchase.
Contract Growing
For landscapers, councils and developers, contract grown trees from 12 to 18 months in advance is an attractive service. This ‘pre-purchase’ option represents a reliable, timely and cost-effective way to ensure containerised trees are supplied at the end of the project according to specified heights and volumes without any last minute delivery surprises.
Any forward ordering and pre-grow arrangement is a great solution to speculative purchasing usually conducted towards the end of the job when trees may not be available in the variety, size and volumes required in accordance with the project vision and design.
Contract growing offers immediate impact from day one of the completed project and is especially suited to large residential projects, council streetscapes, retail precincts, and commercial and residential subdivisions where investors require immediate saleability and return on investment. Carefully managed, contract growing can be staged so that tree supply occurs after the completion of designated stages within a larger project.
With over 100 acres under production in Narre Warren East and at Benalla in regional Victoria, Speciality Trees is well equipped both in resources and personnel to coordinate an entire landscaping project and will report back periodically on tree development over time for ultimate peace of mind.
Propagation Services
As a relatively new area to the business, in-house propagation services allow specific customers to undertake the trialling of new tree material, provenance material or harder-to-find varieties under contract.
This option, particularly attractive to councils and developers, is a specialist service that controls the tree’s inputs and outputs from start to finish and forms the cornerstone of the Speciality Trees ‘Seed to Success’ Council Trialling Program. This innovative program links tree supply with planting and maintenance provided by the recipient council, and data collection on the tree’s suitability to the area, planting purpose and climate by Treenet - a national not-for-profit urban tree planting advocate.
This vital information is then shared with the green industry to increase species diversity in the urban environment and performance of trees under a changing climate.
On-site Consultation
The Speciality Trees team is also available for on-site consultations. This service is popular with residential and commercial customers who are unsure about their landscaping needs. A member of the Speciality Trees team will visit the site and advise on suitable tree options based on intended use, location, microclimate, soil and aspect. There is a modest fee for this service, but it is reimbursed upon tree purchase.
Educational Nursery Tours
Tertiary educators, design firms, landscape architects, and many councils and contractors will attest to the willingness of the Speciality Trees team to open their gates and schedules to present to associations and interest groups on tree topics of interest
It is part of the company’s philosophy to talk about the benefit of trees at every opportunity! In fact, any visit to view stock at their Wellington Road site in Narre Warren East opens the opportunity to seek advice about formative pruning, AS2303 and the climate suitability of every tree they grow.
On all counts, you will be swept up in the passion of their managers and fascinated by the science behind the production processes they use to grow their trees.
