SUSTAINABLE DESIGN FOR A SUNSTRUCK BUILDING
08 Dec 2022
When the sun and its heat was a problem for this building in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, TAA DESIGN found the best solution to take advantage of the natural light and cool down the site in a sustainable fashion.
Built on a T-junction overlooking a public park and square, this building was subject to a lot of natural sunlight that was causing the property to be at a high temperature throughout the day. As the building has two front facades and undisrupted views of the public spaces surrounding it, TAA DESIGN used a perforated geometry to create shade without compromising these views. By creating a second skin for the building out of different types of plant life, the structure now is covered head to toe in greenery that acts as a filter to the sunlight.
This layer of greenery protects the building from the suns heat and allows a perfect basking spot for the plants to thrive in. The addition of various plant life to the building’s façade is also a sustainable option for passive heating and cooling methods.
TAA Design is a leader in the building design industry for their innovative and more sustainable approach to design, this project is a great example of improving human working and living conditions through innovative and sustainable design.
