TAKE ON THE HIGH SEAS OF FUN WITH PROLUDIC
18 Aug 2022
Proludic has taken on the high seas of nautical-themed playspace fun at Thomas H Halton Park at Croudace Bay.
Proludic designed, manufactured and installed the bespoke inclusive and accessible Galleon Ship to one of Lake Macquarie City Councils's biggest playgrounds on the shores of Lake Macquarie. The focal play feature fitting perfectly into the nautical-themed brief, the Galleon Ship is the central feature of the playspace.
Built to an impressive scale, the three-masted ship is over 20 metres long and reaches a height of 8.2 metres. The Galleon Ship is built and designed for everyone, with connecting ramps onto a fully accessible deck area for children of all ages and abilities to play. The deck area circulates the entire ship, allowing people using mobility aids to freely access and circulate inside and around the ship.
The Galleon Ship not only is a sight to behold but includes an array of play features including slides, climbing and balancing elements, rope structures and interactive play panels. These playful activities support physical, imaginative, social, cognitive and sensory play experiences. The inclusive design allows everyone of all ages and abilities to access and engage in play together.
Manufactured using robust, high-quality materials, the Galleon Ship will maintain its bold colours and durable play elements, providing the community a fun-filled central play feature that will stand the test of time.
Thomas H Halton Park was a finalist in the 2022 Parks and Leisure Australia NSW/ACT Regional Awards of Excellence, in the ‘Playspace Award (>0.5M)’ award category. The project was funded by the NSW Government ‘Everyone Can Play’ grant program which contributed to $200,000 to the all-abilities playground, with council funding the rest of the park’s transformation project.
