1 Bligh Street, Sydney
A collaboration between Architectus (Sydney) and Ingenhoven Architects (Germany), 1 Bligh Street combines leading-edge design, technology and sustainablilty in one of the world’s most enviable locations. Since the initial proposal in 2006, Architectus has continued the development of these ideas guided by four critical considerations: the view, the public space, the work environment and the green building.
Winter Garden and Roof Terrace
Two levels of the building standout for the unique space they present. Located at the halfway point, is a 6-metre high winter garden offering views over Sydney Harbour, this space could easily become a function level, cafeteria, rest space or gym.
The screened Roof Terrace has also been readied for use, featuring a 700m decked area, again with million dollar views and the flexibility for multiple functionalities.
Both areas feature beautiful decking that required a decking support solution that did not penetrate the membrane, was height adjustable, and would compensate for the fall on the concrete. Architectus specified Elmich Spirapave. The system is versatile, stable and easy to use due to the spiralling steps that allow millimetre adjustments. The minimum height of 17mm makes decking feasible even in the tightest of build-ups.
