THE HIDDEN FUN FACTORY
27 Mar 2018
Expertly integrated into an onsite amenity are the inner workings of the Gracemere water park in Rockhampton - keeping the park all about the fun and the mechanics out of the public eye.
Built by Landmark Products, the recently opened $1.3 million water playground project, Gracemere, was funded as part of the state government’s Works for Queensland program.
The families of the growing satellite town, nine kilometres west of Rockhampton, are loving the refreshing fun the park offers. Mega soakers, tipping buckets and spray tunnels are just some of the wet play items that make up this amazing recreation space.
Keeping the mechanics out of site, the hydraulics that drive the water park are contained with a 28-square metre, acoustically and thermally insulated room within a modified carektaker restroom. There are two access points to the hydraulics room – via the service duct or a motorised roller door.
The new facility, installed by Landmark, is a matching design to a three cubicle caretaker restrooms Landmark built and installed three years ago for the neighbouring conventional playground.
In addition, the facility includes two female and two male change rooms, and one male and one female toilet for park visitors. There are two stainless steel panelled showers and a wash basin installed at the front of the building.
With the beach a long drive from Gracemere, the water park has been extremely popular with the locals, together with the playground and skatepark that were built previously at Cedric Archer Park. With a growing population - over 11,000 people - the facility is sure to continue as a drawcard.
Landmark boasts one of Australia’s biggest ranges of on-slab and raised restrooms, with hundreds installed throughout Australia. The Gracemere restroom is a modified structure, but with its own in-house design team, Landmark was able to competently deliver a custom solution with site-specific details.
All Landmark restrooms are delivered in kit-form, arriving onsite flat-packed and ready to assemble, with no onsite fabrication needed. Step-by-step assembly instructions and appropriate documentation are included.
The benefits of kit-form are numerous:
- All components pre-cut and pre-drilled for less noise, less waste, fewer disturbances to the surrounding area.
- Quick erection times means significantly less onsite disruption.
- For remote or difficult sites, kit-form structures are a fuss-free solution.
