TIMBER WITHOUT THE WEAR
01 Mar 2018
What can make an average building stand out from the crowd? The installation of a unique and distinctive façade! Futurewood offer a solution that utilises modern materials to create a stylish timber look, without the cost and wear of real timber.
Futurewood’s range of decorative battens and screening material offers architects and designers, in addition to home owners, a choice of unique shapes, colours and finishes for timber-look battens as part of a finished façade.
Whether you are starting from scratch and want to design an eye-catching wall, or whether you want to rejuvenate a tired old building to make it stand out for miles around, Futurewood can help. The team can even discuss creating a brand-new shape to suit a specific project brief, if required.
Where the aesthetic calls for a batten finish in a timber-look material, Futurewood composite timber battens provide the perfect compromise, providing a solid, timber-like material without the corresponding maintenance that exposed timber requires. Futurewood battens have the colour running throughout the material, ensuring brightness and longevity. The combination of wood flour, rice husks and plastic pre-finished composite material mean that, unlike timber, the façade does not need painting or staining on a regular basis. In addition, the Futurewood composite timber battens have a very low moisture absorbency rate and will not rot, decay or attract termites and white ants.
From simple screening to feature walls and contemporary façades, Futurewood’s range of decorative screening, fencing and cladding is a great resource that can be used in any bespoke façade design.
This before shot of the Kings on Metro Surf Club building demonstrates the difference a new façade can make to a structure (see first image for after shot).
This contemporary façade in Richmond Victoria was created using Futurewood 40mmx30mm solid composite timber battens in the colour Slate Grey. The sustainability of this low maintenance material, with no ongoing oiling or painting required, was key to the success of this project and the finished result speaks for itself.
This toilet block in Runaway Bay needed to be low maintenance but still required a timber look component to the design. The Futurewood 60mmx40mm and 40mmx30mm battens proved to be the perfect addition to the façade to achieve the desired look.
