With six new racer slides and a family wave pool, the multimillion dollar expansion of recreation park Gumbuya World is giving Victorians something to get excited about this summer.
Victorians, international tourists and interstate guests are in for a super summer treat when Victoria’s only water, wildlife and theme park, Gumbuya World, unveils its brand new multimillion dollar water park expansion featuring the state’s most impressive family wave pool and six new water slides.
The massive heated family wave pool, The Break, will become the “beach in the South East”, giving families across Victoria endless water fun this summer. Holding two million litres of water, there will also be a stand-alone kids area, ensuring people of all ages can enjoy the new wave pool.
If that wasn’t splashtastic enough, there will be six thrilling new water slides offering hours of enjoyment all summer long, with the new slides carrying almost 1000 people an hour. Take on the Tiger Snake Tango, a twisting, twirling slide that will send you zooming in the dark, or race your friends and family on the Red Belly Racer, which features four lanes of high-speed racing fun.
The new additions are part of a $10 million expansion that has seen the theme park’s water world, Oasis Springs, almost double in size. As well as The Break, Oasis Springs includes the exciting Typhoon Island, epic water slides, a 300-metre Lazy River, heated rock pools and Surf’s Up.
On top of the new slides, Oasis Springs boasts 15 new cabanas, plenty of sun lounges and day beds, a dedicated group area and new outdoor showers. There will be new food and drink offerings and Brett’s Beach Club, where adults can relax and enjoy a cocktail while the kids enjoy the rides.
The Oasis Springs expansion is part of a major redevelopment of Gumbuya World set to continue over the next three years. The theme park will offer 50 new attractions as well as a range of onsite accommodation, new cafes, shops, a chocolate factory and a microbrewery. Plans also include Indigenous, dinosaur and wool shed precincts for educational programs.
By 2022, it is anticipated that Gumbuya World will attract a million visitors each year from around Australia and internationally, ensuring tourism remains strong in Victoria and the Gippsland region.
Gumbuya World was recently ranked number one in Amusement Parks and Water Parks in Victoria in the Trip Advisor Traveller’s Choice Awards. They also won the Casey Cardinia Business of the Year 2019 award.
