TORO T5 ROTORS IS TOP OF THE CLASS

Thanks to Toro Australia, the grounds managers at Wavell State High School have been able to reduce water-usage and keep the multiple school ovals ready and running for the many demands of the school day.
Grounds managers across Australia face challenging conditions daily. Open spaces, high wind areas and long periods of dry hot weather make it difficult to keep grounds and surfaces in peak condition. With added pressure to save water, the need for a robust, efficient rotor becomes paramount.
Adrian Onvlee, the grounds manager at Wavell State High School, is no stranger to these pressures and conditions. Responsible for managing the school grounds along with two multi-purpose sporting ovals, Adrian was recently challenged to reduce water consumption and Toro Australia was on hand to help.
“Our existing rotors had been in the ground for over 20 years and they weren’t water efficient. After investigating a range of alternatives, we chose the Toro T5 Stainless Steel Rotors, and we couldn’t be happier with the performance,” says Mr Onvlee.
Since installing the T5 rotors Wavell State High have reduced their water usage across the two ovals by 30%. “The new system runs for the same amount of time and we’ve saved 10 Kilolitres per watering cycle on each oval,” says Mr Onvlee.
Having a stainless steel riser was critical for the two multi-purpose ovals. “Being a school, there are lots of different users across both ovals - inside and outside of school hours. We needed a rotor that was robust and vandal resistant”, explained Mr Onvlee. With a reinforced stainless steel riser and nozzle base constructed from commercial-grade 304 stainless steel, the T5 series rotors fitted perfectly.
