TREE ANCHORING SOLUTION TO NEWCASTLE TRAIN STATION
27 Apr 2023
Anchoring Rope and Rigging were contracted by Daracon Pty Ltd to provide an engineered anchoring solution and supervision service for the anchoring of nine Australis Palm trees at the Newcastle Train Station redevelopment.
The expert engineering team at Anchoring Rope and Rigging supervised the entire operation and calculated how to securely anchor the Palm trees below ground with no guys or stakes visible. Due to small root balls on each tree, four HULK HG320 soil anchors with 3-metre wire rope tendons and webbing tensioners were installed at a depth of 3-metres to aid in stabilising the trees. The HULK underground anchors are a reliable solution that allows trees to be secured into place when space is an issue and are available without stakes and wires visible.
Once the anchors were installed and tested, the nine Palm trees were craned into location and stabilised. Alongside the below ground fittings, two robust wooden frames were fitted around the bases of the trees stems and provided a framework that the tensioner straps could be fitted to and harness the holding power of the HULK anchors.
With over 35 years of experience, the team at Anchoring Rope and Rigging delivered a high-quality result and a sound solution to the project using its reliable HULK Anchoring system.
