WHAT’S IN YOUR TOOL KIT?
14 Sep 2016
Looking to counter the overwhelming reality of vacillating expectations and priorities in the recreation industry, the PLA National Conference aims to arm you with the tools needed to maintain quality spaces.
It is a cliché to say that “the only constant is change”, but nothing could be truer to those of you that work in an industry and environment where you are challenged daily to seek out new ways to continue to maintain quality places and spaces and provide access to services that build healthy communities. It’s a little overwhelming really when you think about – ‘more for less’, ‘rate capping’, ‘climate change’, ‘competing priorities’, ‘increasing community expectations’... sound familiar?
So how do you work your way through all of these issues? What tools can you use to tackle the task? At this year's PLA National Conference, delegates will be given a host of TOOLS to take back to their workplace to help address some of these issues and find equitable resolutions.
Created by the industry for the industry, the Parks and Leisure Australia National Conference attracts key decision-makers working in policy, planning and provision of assets, services, facilities and programmes. The 2016 conference will feature 40 trade exhibitors and over 300 attendees.
At the 2015 Sydney conference, 75% of delegates were employed in local government, 15% in private enterprise and 10% in state government. They work in recreation and open space planning (36%), parks, gardens and horticulture (15%), facility and asset management (18%), health and physical activity (14%), state and national parks (6%) and tourism and the arts, play and playspaces and landscape design (11%). The PLA conference puts you in direct with the right people in your industry.
