BELLMONT NETBALL ASSOCIATION

The courts at the Robinson Netball Centre are home to the Belmont Netball Association and heart of the grass roots sports community. As the area begins its transformation and grows into the Wilson Park Precinct through various stages of development, the netball courts were identified as the priority.

The netball courts have been serving the community for over 40 years, living through the elements and fierce on court battles over the years, and they needed a facelift. Not only did they look worn, but posed as a potential safety issue with slips, trips or falls. The facility no longer met the needs or standards and was then identified as stage 1 of the Wilson Park Precinct upgrades.

APT Agent and Laykold specialist, West Coast Sporting Surfaces (WCSS) was contacted to install the new acrylic surface. Immediately after the winter season, the works began in September 2022 to cover total of 10600m2.  The WCSS team used APT’s Laykold Advantage, known for being a long lasting, multi-layered acrylic system that comes in a range of colours, and is slip resistant to be a safe all-weather surface to play on. There was an additional space to create a 1.5 sized vibrant multisport court with linemarking for basketball, netball, tennis, cricket and even hopscotch and four square.

The project's completion was followed by the official opening in April 2023, with a range of special guests and local community members present to mark the occasion. No doubt the Belmont Netball Association, its members and the wider community will benefit from the upgrade.
